摘要
Expressions for emission line absorption coefficient/optical thickness, found in texts and in the literature, are examined and compared with the known, correct expressions which are summarized at the beginning. Some ambiguities and discrepancies are noted, as well as unusual notations and conventions which may cause problems if not properly interpreted. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
