Stochastic dynamic micromagnetic study of fine particles

We have developed a stochastic dynamic micromagnetics code using the Langevin-Gilbert equation and the finite element method to study the thermal switching of fine particles. In this article, results for an ellipsoidal particle with aspect ratio 4.62 are presented. The physical parameters of the particle have been chosen so that the magnetization switches incoherently. The first passage time for the magnetization to switch is calculated repeatedly to obtain statistics. The probability that the magnetization has not switched, P-n(t), can be described well by a delayed stretched exponential P-n(t) = exp[-(t-t(0)/tau)(beta)], where t(0), tau, and beta are parameters obtained by maximum likelihood estimation.
