Synthesis and characterization of novel π-conjugated polymers with phosphole ring derivatives

Novel pi-conjugated polymers (8-10) were prepared by the palladium-catalyzed Sonogashira coupling reaction of three kinds of phosphole-ring-containing monomers with 2,5-dihexyloxyl-1,4-diethynylbenzene. The obtained polymers (8-10) were regioregulated with the 2,5-substituted phosphole ring in the polymer main chain and characterized with H-1, C-13, and P-31 NMR and FTIR. Polymers 8-10 were found to have an extended pi-conjugated system according to the results of UV-vis absorption spectra. In the fluorescence emission spectra of 8-10, moderate emission peaks were observed in the visible blue-to-green region. (c) 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
