摘要
Experts have introduced model aimed at identifying and explaining the mechanism that encourages students selecting computing courses. The model has been utilized to survey 205 students enrolled in an introductory computing course. A set of recommendations have been introduced on the basis of the survey, intended to help higher education institutions, encourage students, to select computing courses. The model has been developed from the vocational psychology literature that focuses on career-related choices and apply it for selecting computing as course of study. The model represents a conceptual framework aimed at understanding the mechanisms through which students develop goals, to pursue a particular educational or occupational path, make choices among available opportunities, and perform in their selected fields of study.
