Electrosorption of FeCl3 solutions with carbon nanotubes and nanofibers film electrodes grown on graphite substrates

摘要
The cost-effective, large area Carbon Nanotubes and Nanofibers (CNTs-CNFs) film was synthesized on graphite substrate by low pressure and low temperature thermal chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Successful removal of Fe3+ from water by electrosorption of CNTs-CNFs films was achieved. The electrosorption capacities of CNTs-CNFs film electrodes were approximately 3.89-49.3 mu mol/g at different voltages from 0.6 to 1.4V, when the initial concentrations of ferric chloride (FeCl3) are kept around 89.1 mu mol/L. The ion adsorption followed a Langmuir isotherm indicating monolayer adsorption.
