Electron localization in poly(alkoxyanilines)

摘要
Electrical conductivity, magnetic susceptibility and electron spin resonance results are reported in poly(o-methoxyaniline), poly(o-ethoxyaniline) and an equimolar blend of polyaniline and poly(o-methoxyaniline) for different protonic acids. Electron localization length is found to be much larger in poly(alkoxyanilines) compared with their respective poly(alkylanilines). The larger localization length in poly(o-alkoxyaniline) materials is thought to arise from decreased Coulomb interaction between the positive charge on the polymer chain and the anion; this interaction is reduced by the electron donating nature of the alkoxy groups.
