Seismic investigation of the excavation damaged zone in Opalinus Clay

摘要
A mini-sonic borehole probe was used to investigate the excavation damaged zone (EDZ) around an underground opening in the Opalinus Clay in the Mont Terri Rock Laboratory in Switzerland. The EDZ could be determined by using seismic parameters as interval velocities and amplitudes of first arrivals derived from measurements in eight radial drilled boreholes. The extent of the EDZ is about 1 m but varies between 0.6 and 2.2 m. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
