Intense visible photoluminescence from coloured LiF films on silicon

摘要
Lithium fluoride films, about 1.5 mu m thick, thermally evaporated onto silicon <100> substrates were subjected to low energy electron bombardment. Intense photoluminescence, extending from green to red in thr visible spectral range was measured at room temperature in the irradiated areas, due to the presence of the laser active F-2 and F-3(+) colour centres.
