In this article, the authors review the traditional diagnostic test, nerve conduction studies, and the newer MR imaging for carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). They focus on the indications for performing nerve conduction studies and various techniques used for patients with CTS and diagnostic accuracy. Then the MR imaging techniques are described, and their reliability and diagnostic accuracy for evaluating CTS is reviewed.
