Ball milling:: a new route for the synthesis of superdense lithium GICs

摘要
Superdense lithium graphite intercalation compounds (GIC) were prepared using ball milling process. Chemical analysis of the powder showed a loss of lithium during synthesis and contamination by iron or chromium due to abrasion of milling tools. Density of the compounds measured using liquid pycnometry indicated the presence of defects in the intercalated phase. X-ray analysis and transmission electron microscopy showed a well-crystallized structure of the compound.
