Electron response in laser-irradiated microclusters

摘要
It is shown that a two-component electron distribution can emerge in a cluster under an intense laser pulse. The bulk of the internal electrons adjusts adiabatically to the laser field, whereas a smaller electron population at the cluster edge can undergo stochastic heating. A self-consistent equilibrium has been found for the confined electrons. (C) 2003 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".
