摘要
After axillary node dissection for reasons other than breast cancer, such as malignant melanoma of the skin, lymphatic drainage of the breast tissue is diverted to the internal mammary or supraclavicular lymph nodes. The authors describe a patient who had an axillary node dissection for malignant melanoma of the back in whom breast cancer developed 22 years later. Sentinel node lymphoscintigraphy performed the night before surgery showed diversion of lymphatic drainage to the internal mammary lymph nodes in only the delayed images acquired at 18 hours.
