Direct growth of dense, pristine metal nanoplates with well-controlled dimensions on semiconductor substrates

Several solution-phase chemical reactions have been prepared metal nanoplates with the assistance of surfactant molecules including polymeric chains, micellar assemblies, coordinating ligands, and biological reagents. These procedures have been developed to design metal nanostructures with well-controlled dimensions on solid substrates. A research was conducted on the growth of metal nanostructure with a variety of shapes on semiconductor substrates. It recorded a simple and surfactant-free approach to grow pristine metal nanoplates with well-controlled thicknesses and edge lengths. High-quality metal nanoplates with well-defined shapes have been manufactured through fast and simple galvanic reactions between semiconductor wafers and aqueous solutions of metal precursors. The cleanliness of the surfaces of the metal nanoplates benefits the modification of the nanoplates with interesting molecules.
