Electrophoretic fabrication and photocatalytic performance of TiO2/fluorocarbon polymer composite films

摘要
Photocatalytic TiO2 coatings with and without fluorocarbon polymer binder were fabricated by electrophoretic deposition (EPD). TiO2 single or composite materials were obtained under optimized EPD conditions. The adhesion strength between the coating and the substrate increased with increasing amount of binder in the EPD suspension. The photocatalytic performance of the specimens was determined by measuring the optical absorbance of methylene blue aqueous solution containing the specimens under UV irradiation from a black light fluorescent lamp at room temperature. It was confirmed that the electrophoretically fabricated TiO2/polymer composite coatings acted as photocatalysts.
