摘要：
Most health care providers are seeing more overweight and obese patients than ever before in their practices, which is not surprising, because more than half of the US population is overweight or obese. Health care providers are facing a modern-day public health crisis that is rapidly getting worse and that increasingly negatively affects patient morbidity, mortality, and health care expenditures. This article describes the obesity epidemic and explains how it arose.
