The effects of the axial DC field on magnetoimpedance: Circumferential domain wall damping

Real and imaginary components of inductance of as cast, amorphous wires of nominal composition (Co0.94Fe0.06)(72.5) B15Si12.5 were measured as a function of frequency at room temperature, in the 5Hz-13MHz frequency range, with an ac current of 0.86 mA in amplitude (RMS), An axial de magnetic field, Hdo with values in the 0-6,400 A/m range was simultaneously applied. The changes produced by the de magnetic field are analyzed by using an equivalent circuit approach. The obtained results are interpreted in terms of a circumferential domain wall damping produced by the de field.
