Nuclear magnetic resonance studies of chromium(III) pyridinecarboxylate complexes

摘要
The H-1 and H-2 NMR spectra of a number of chromium(III) pyridinecarboxylates have been obtained. In contrast to previous reports (C. L. Broadhurst et al., J. Inorg. Biochem 66, (1997) 119), paramagnetically broadened and shifted resonances were observed as expected for ligands bound to the d(3) metal center. Using the combination of both H-1 and H-2 NMR and compounds with selective replacement of hydrogen with deuterium, all the hydrogen or deuterium resonances for some compounds could be located and assigned. The results indicate that paramagnetic NMR can be a valuable tool in characterizing Cr(III) pyridinecarboxylate complexes and that chromium(III) trispicolinate has complex behavior in solution.
