摘要
The high sensitivity of Laser Spectroscopy has made possible the exploration of atomic resonances in newly designed "nanometric" vapour cells, whose thickness lies in the 20-1000 nm range. In addition to the observation of the optical analogue of coherent Dicke microwave narrowing that provides a linear sub-Doppler spectral response, it offers ways to explore the long-range atom-surface van der Waals interaction with spatial resolution, and to probe an unexplored range of distances. We are also developing an analysis of the influence over the atom-surface interaction of the near-field thermal excitation of the vacuum, as induced through the vicinity of a "hot" surface.
