Anisotropic Nd-Fe-B powder was prepared from mechanically alloyed and hot deformed magnets using hydrogen decrepitation. After hydrogen desorption the material becomes very friable. The powder particles show similar anisotropic behaviour as the original die-upset material. Values of (BH)(max) = 81 kJ/m(3) were obtained for textured resin bonded magnets with a coercivity of about mu(oj)H(c) = 1.6 T and a measured density of 5.4 g/cm(3).
