摘要
In vivo results have been obtained from various studies on the effect of the probiotic preparation VSL#3 in patients with ulcerative colitis and ileal pouch anal anastomosis for ulcerative colitis. Researchers are attempting to unravel the still incompletely defined mechanisms of action of probiotic bacteria. The information gathered over the last few years starts to depict how important the composition of the microflora is in the delicate and dynamic balanced interaction between host and microbiota, and, which factors may influence intestinal homeostasis. This article describes basic and clinical contributions ill probiotic therapeutics, with special focus oil the probiotic preparation VSL#3.
