Preparation and electrochemical properties of submicron spherical V2O5 as cathode material for lithium ion batteries

摘要
Submicron spherical V2O5 particles were successfully prepared by decomposing the amorphous ammonium hypovanadate(IV) precursor synthesized by an aqueous precipitation technique. The crystal structure, morphology and electrochemical performance of the V2O5 particles were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, galvanostatic cycling and cyclic voltammetry. These alpha-V2O5 particles with layered structure can deliver a high reversible capacity of 360 mAh g(-1) at 0.125 C and 202 mAh g(-1) at 0.5 C, and exhibit better cycle stability, while preserving a greatly improved internal space.
