(Figure Presented) Unexpected structural complexity: Well-crystallized Mg(BH4)2 powder is obtained, allowing the structure to be determined from synchrotron X-ray and neutron diffraction data. Mg(BH 4)2 is a novel and remarkably complex three-dimensional framework in which each Mg2+ ion (blue) is tetrahedrally coordinated by four [BH4]- tetrahedra (B red, H gray; see picture). © 2007 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
