Synthesis and characterization of a new three-dimensional praseodymium glutarate with perforated layers [Pr4(H2O)2][O2C(CH2)3CO2]8•4H2O[MIL-75]

The synthesis and structure of [Pr-4(H2O)(2)][O2C-(CH2)(3)-CO2](8).4H(2)O, a new 3D praseodymium glutarate with perforated layers are described. One half of the glutarate ions serve as pillars between the layers, which are formed by a two-dimensional linkage of edge- and face-shared Pr polyhedra. A remarkable feature of this structure is the presence of twelve-membered rings within the layers Crystal data: M 1853.43, Monoclinic, space group C2/m (no. 12), a = 36.632(4), b = 8.4966(l), c = 18.9942(2) Angstrom, beta = 114.28(1), V = 5360.6(1) Angstrom(3), Z = 4, rho((calc)) = 2.30 g cm(-3), mu(Mo Kalpha) = 4.569 mm(-1), R-1 = 0.0380 [6898 observed reflections with I > 2sigma(I)].
