摘要
We describe a method to treat neural injury from stroke using bone marrow stromal cells (MSCs) from humans and rodents. These cells, when injected intravenously into the rat or mouse, find their way to injured tissue, enter the tissue and evoke production of an array of neurotrophic factors. Highly significant reduction of neurological deficit results from this therapy as measured from a battery of neurological tests. The benefits of therapy persist for at least 3 months after treatment. Bone marrow cell therapy may show promise for the treatment of stroke, neural injury and neurodegenerative disease. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
