摘要
The small size of the chromosomes of the apple tree and also their high number (2n=34) are limitation for cytological investigations. The haploid plants are an excellent material to design the karyotype from root tips. This study is a first tentative based on 5 metaphase cells. The length of the 17 chromosomes was found ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 mum. The position of the centromere in the chromosomes was calculated according to Levan et al. (1964) : 11 chromosomes are submetacentric and 6 are metacentric. A satellite was found clearly on one chromosome and possibly on one another. The chromosome bearing a satellite is the longest one, the others present a continuous range of size.
