Simvastatin significantly increased treadmill exercise time until onset of intermittent claudication from baseline by 54 seconds (a 24% increase, p <0.0001) at 6 months after treatment and by 95 seconds (a 42% increase, p <0.0001) at I year after treatment. At 6 months and I year after treatment with placebo, treadmill exercise time until onset of intermittent claudication was not significantly different from baseline exercise time.
