The reaction of triphenylbismuth and tert-butylphosphonic acid gives the bismuth phosphonate phase ((BuPO3H)-P-t)(3)Bi and the first bismuth phosphonate cluster [((BuPO3)-P-t)(10)((BuPO3H)-P-t)(2)Bi14O10. 3C(6)H(6). 4H(2)O].
