摘要
Who can split water? Two polymorphs of nanocrystalline cubic spinel and rhombohedral layered lithium cobalt oxides have been prepared and their application in the photocatalytic oxidation of water examined. The main factor that determines the catalytic activity of the different phases is the presence of a Co 4O 4 cubic core, which is present in the cubic form of the catalyst, but not in the layered structure (see scheme).
