摘要
PET imaging with F-18 FDG is valuable in the staging of melanomas with helpful demonstration of high metabolic locoregional and distant metastases of this neoplasm. Dissemination of melanoma may be falsely diagnosed in the concomitant existence of benign soft tissue lesions taking up F-18 FDG as shown in the two following cases of lower extremity schwannomas. Epidemiology and imaging characteristics of schwannomas are briefly reviewed and discussed.
