Fock states in a cyclically pumped one-atom maser

摘要
States with a definite, and known, photon number-Fock states-can be prepared in a one-atom maser by conditioning the photon state to the results of state-selective atom detection. This requires a cyclic pump scheme in which long periods of relaxation separate short periods of pumping. The theoretical analysis presented here is in very good agreement with the experimental data reported recently.
