摘要
The accelerated ageing of handsheets and commercial papers at 80 degrees C and 65%RH confirms that acidity is the most significant factor that affects paper stability. The addition of a buffering compound such as calcium carbonate is an effective way of improving the stability. This research shows that lignin does not have a negative impact on the ageing stability of mechanical and chemical properties of paper if it is buffered with a sufficient amount of calcium carbonate. The stability of the optical properties of papers made predominantly from high-yield pulps is negatively affected by the presence of lignin.
