(Chemical Equation Presented) Nested assembly: Chiral molecules of 5,6,11,12-tetraphenylnaphthacene (rubrene) organize spontaneously into homochiral supramolecular architectures of increasing complexity. Adsorbed individual molecules self-assemble enantioselectively into chiral pentagonal supermolecules, which act as building blocks for the formation of chiral supramolecular decagons (see STM images). © 2005 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
