摘要：

One of the concerns of knowledge management should be the management of the knowledge management process itself. Our purpose is to start discussion on this aspect by subjecting knowledge management to a preliminary ontological study. The aim is for this discussion to initiate work on a capability maturity model for knowledge management. We consider knowledge to take the form of domain models, and the latter to be composed of data, process descriptions, rules, and capabilities. Knowledge management is seen as relating to the acquisition, representation, and use of knowledge. Throughout we consider the uncertainties inherent in knowledge management.
