摘要
The use of gamma rays, electron beams (e-beams) and x-rays for irradiation of ready-to-eat foods is discussed. It is found that e-beams provide fine dose control, for relatively thin foods like ground beef patties or foods with a uniform thickness of no more than 9 cm. It is observed that the low conversion rate of x-ray system makes it less cost effective for food irradiation.
