摘要
The advances in laser tools and the prospects of absolute optical frequency measurements available from their incremental progress over the past 40 years are reviewed. Various laser techniques are analyzed to evaluate their measurement effectiveness. A recently developed femtosecond laser spectral comb has been found to enable high speed direct measurement of optical frequencies. The technique also features high degree of accuracy.
