摘要
Optimal conditions to obtain beta-Si3N4, through Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis, have been determined and the growth of beta-Si3N4 fibers has been achieved by means of a seeding technique. The specific surface variations have been considered in order to study their growth, due to the difficulty to analyze changes in fiber length by electronic microscopy. (C) 2003 Acta Materialia Inc.
