MIL-14, formulated Al-2(HPO4)(3)F-2. H2PO4. N4C6H21, is a new layered fluoroaluminophosphate obtained by hydrothermal synthesis using tris(2-aminoethyl)amine as a template. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/c with a = 13.154, b = 9.518, c = 17.889 Angstrom, beta = 106.165 degrees and Z = 4. Its structure consists of an alternation along [100] direction of inorganic layers interleaved by amine phosphates. The structural unit of the inorganic layer contains five polyhedra: two aluminium octahedra and three HPO4 tetrahedra. Strong hydrogen bonds ensured framework stability.
