摘要
Fumed silicas have been successfully used for some decades to control the rheology of organic coatings by providing a strong thixotropic effect and a yield point. By surface modification with special silanes the fumed silicas can be further optimized, especially for modern coating systems. The rheological effects of newly developed products in solvent based and water borne coatings as well as the improvement of the adhesion strength are described.
