Spectroscopic measurement of gas temperature in the neutralizer of the JET neutral beam injection system

摘要
The first measurement of an elevated temperature of the target gas in a neutralizer cell, resulting from interaction with the beam, is reported. Effects unique to the beam-plasma system in the neutralizer are considered with particular reference to the relevance of the experimental spectroscopic analysis technique. The gas is found to reach temperatures up to 900 K for operation with multi-megawatt positive ion beams.
