Discovery of superconductivity in Fe-based cuprates

The Fe-based cuprates, FeSr2YCu2Oy[Fe1212] and relating compounds were found to exhibit superconductivity with T-c(onset) up to 62K. Additional annealing process under moderately reducing atmosphere is believed to be crucial for suppression of site exchange between Fe and Cu, resulting in the new superconducting system.
