摘要：

The small part of DNA that contains blueprints for proteins is described. The RNA-only genes that play major roles in the health and development of plants and animals are also discussed. It was observed that the active forms of RNA help to regulate a separate 'epigenetic' layer of heritable information that resides in the chromosomes but outside the DNA sequence.
