摘要
The premise of this paper is that multivocality (multiple internal voicedness) is an essential part of being human and should be regarded as a therapeutic resource, to be nurtured and valued. Consistent with this view, we argue that therapists can benefit their clients by helping them to discover and use the variety and conflict that exists within them. In particular when clients present conflicts or other contrasts between infernal self-aspects or voices, therapists can help them enter into a variety of constructive "dialogues" with each other Moving to the application of this view to practice, we discuss one particular therapeutic task in greater detail and three others to a lesser extent, providing the basis for a general model of the resolution of therapeutic tasks involving contrasting self-aspects or voices.
