摘要
The development of a nonfouling chemical overlayer for a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor is presented. Triethylene glycol dimethyl ether was deposited onto SPR substrates from a radio frequency glow discharge plasma reactor. A thin film was produced that is rich in poly(ethylene oxide) groups that are known to resist biomolecule uptake. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were utilized to identify and verify film composition. The films are shown to be highly resistant to bovine serum albumin fouling in a planar SPR apparatus. These results indicate the promise of plasma-deposited triglyme to modify substrates previously compromised by biological fouling. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. Al rights reserved.
