Nelson et al. (Reports, 22 Oct. 2004, p. 704) argue that oscillations in nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kappa B) signaling control gene expression. However, we show that altering expression Levels of fluorescently tagged signaling proteins can severely affect the dynamic behavior of the signaling pathway under study and caution against equating the signaling behavior of genetically engineered cells with that of normal cells.Comment on "Oscillations in NF-kappa B Signaling Control the Dynamics of Gene Expression".
