Grain refinement of 1050 aluminum alloy by friction stir processing

摘要：

The production of fine-grained 1050 aluminum alloy was reported using friction stir processing (FSP) technique. The grain size in the FSP zone depended on the condition of the base metal. Results indicated that microhardness value of the sample was higher in the FSP zone than in the base metal which was due to the smaller grain size and the higher dislocation density in the FSP zone.
