Rupture of the Achilles and patellar tendons

Ruptures of major tendinous units in the lower limb represent a large source of morbidity in the sporting community Achilles and patellar tendon ruptures display a number of similar facets that make them comparable, reflecting linking etiologies and pathologies that are prevalent in tendon disease. This article aims to provide a summarized view of our understanding on the subject. It is by no means exhaustive, but we hope it highlights areas of importance in these musculoskeletal misfortunes.
