Permanently linked monodisperse paramagnetic chains

摘要
Here we present a method for synthesizing permanently linked monodisperse paramagnetic chains by both covalently linking surface-functionalized polystyrene particles and physically linking electrostatically stabilized paramagnetic emulsion droplets. We observe the stability, field alignment, and flexibility of this new class of materials. These anisotropic magnetoresponsive materials should be of interest for their unique rheological, optical, electronic, and micromechanical properties.
