Lyotropic liquid crystalline properties of poly(N,N′-di-n-hexylguanidine)

摘要
The lyotropic liquid crystalline properties of poly(N,N′-di-n-hexylguanidine) were studied. The small-angle x-ray diffraction and optical polarizing microscopy were used for the study. It was observed that solutions of stiff-chain polymer over a critical concentration formed a layered, smectic structure. The effects of the increased density and uniform nature of the hexyl side chains on the structural difference were also discussed.
