摘要:
The influence of hard-transition shift (HTS) on overwrite (O/W) performance is described. Previously, we reported for the case where a low density background signal is overwritten by a high density signal in perpendicular magnetic recording. We concluded that the influence of HTS was periodic and affected O/W performance. Here we also report for the opposite case, where a high density signal is overwritten by a low density signal. Again, we find that the influence of HTS is periodic, or a sort of modulation. However, in this case, our experiments show that it does not affect O/W performance. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
