摘要
Kangaroo Mother Care, which began as a desperate measure to reduce morbidity and mortality among hospitalized low-birth weight infants in developing countries, has been shown to be safe, affordable and effective. Its benefits to the mother, her low-birth weight infant, health services, and the community at large have been demonstrated in diverse settings around the world. The full potential of Kangaroo Mother Care in the promotion of breastfeeding in low-birth weight infants is yet to be realized.
